Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play - rehearsals

Charlie & Lola's best bestest Play - now on!

Charlie & Lola

So it is Sunday night, and the night before the monday of the week where we open… That was a long way of trying to build up to the fact that I am completely feeling the fear! As an actor, I know that of course it is normal to feel the fear, of course the nerves and the scared feelings and the worry that you’ll get it wrong and drag everyone down with you kicks in. See it is not like other jobs where if you don’t get it quite right, someone doesn’t make as much money as they could. With theatre, if you don’t get it right, you are letting both your fellow actors and the audience down. I like many actors (whether we admit it or not) feel a responsibility towards my audience. They trust that I will take them on a journey, that I will give them the experience that they have come seeking, and if I fail to deliver that I haven’t just failed them as an actor, I have abused that trust in some way.

Anyway, this is all getting a little philosophical. I’m going to go over my lines (again) and then get some much needed rest before tomorrows final clean day of rehearsal. I hope that it goes well. I hope that we do not put ourselves in a position where we abuse the trust of our audience!

PS - as we haven’t opened yet, for those of you who haven’t seen it before, let me leave you with a youtube video of the charlie and lola BBC TV show from youtube:

Charlie and Lola at the Polka
The Charlie and Lola rehearsals are now well under way. Things got off to a roller coster start with the actors having to jump straight in the deep end with a tight schedual till the first show goes up. We will be hearing more from them in a short while to come….

Charlie and Lola on Tour
The tour of charlie and lola is now out and on the road! Going across the country to 4 - 7 year olds, the C&L team open this week. We may hear more from them directly as their tour progresses, watch this space… !
